Marketplace rules
Version of 2026-10-20-1
Private listings of your own belongings. Rules for publication, contacts and safety.
R1. Who may list an item
You must be a private individual aged 18 or over, signed in to SARAFAN, with a verified email. Sell or give away your own belongings. Do not use the marketplace as a shop, list on behalf of a business or sell somebody else's items. You do not need a specialist listing. Choose an available handover city in the form. The items may be located elsewhere in the UK: state their location honestly in the description and agree handover or postage. Having several new items of the same type does not by itself make the seller a shop.
Accept the current marketplace rules before your first publication. If the version changes, you must accept the new version before publishing again. A verified email does not mean the seller's identity has been checked.
R2. What you may list
The range covers furniture; home and garden; books; clothing and shoes; kids and baby items subject to the exclusions below; hobbies and sport; non-motorised bikes and scooters; tools; musical instruments; moving supplies; office equipment, electronics and home appliances under the rules below. Other is a moderated category, not a way around the rules. Free items must also belong to an allowed category.
Office equipment covers your own printers, scanners, multifunction printers, copiers and shredders. State the model, included accessories and consumables, the functions you tested and all faults. Do not describe an untested function as working. Before handover, erase saved documents, address books, accounts and network settings. Do not list manufacturer-recalled equipment, damaged plugs or cables, overheating devices or leaking consumables. “For parts” does not override these exclusions. Buyers should check the device and included accessories before paying. SARAFAN does not carry out technical device checks.
Electronics and its categories accept your own computers, laptops, tablets, e-readers, phones, TVs, monitors, audio equipment, games consoles, physical games, cameras and accessories. Computers, laptops and tablets in existing listings may remain in Other. State the model, tested functions, all faults, battery condition and included accessories. Before handover, erase personal data, accounts and network settings and remove activation locks. Accounts, downloads and other digital goods are prohibited.
Home appliances and its categories accept your own electric kitchen, laundry, refrigeration and cleaning appliances. State the model, tested functions, all faults and included accessories; photograph the plug and any damage. All electrical items must exclude manufacturer-recalled devices, damaged plugs or cables, overheating, swollen or leaking batteries, leaks and leaking consumables. For parts does not override these exclusions. Gas equipment is not accepted. Erase saved data and accounts before handover. Buyers should check the device and accessories before payment; participants agree collection and any required installation directly. SARAFAN does not technically test or install equipment or certify its safety.
SARAFAN does not accept:
The initial range also excludes child car seats, protective helmets and opened cosmetics. These are SARAFAN's range restrictions; they do not replace the legal requirements for a particular item.
- weapons, knives or imitations
- drugs, medicines or medical devices
- tobacco, vapes, alcohol or food
- animals or products made from protected species
- counterfeits, brand copies, stolen items or manufacturer-recalled products
- documents, tickets, accounts or digital goods
- hazardous substances or gas equipment
- electric scooters or other electrically powered transport
- adult material
- services, jobs, housing or transport other than the permitted non-motorised bikes and scooters.
R3. Photos, description and condition
One listing may offer a single item, a set or several items of the same type, including new items and different colours. State the quantity, differences and whether the price is per item or for the whole set. Photos and descriptions must represent the variants offered. Do not create duplicates or copy a listing to evade a moderation decision. Use your own photos of the actual item, with the right to use them. Publication requires at least one accepted photo. Show each defect in a photo and describe it in words. Do not conceal wear or damage or use photos of a different item.
Choose the condition using the definition in the form. If unsure between two grades, choose the lower one. Do not describe an item for parts as working. Keep its description and availability up to date.
R4. Price and free items
Give the actual price and currency. Giving away means the item itself is free: no hidden payment, compulsory purchase or condition that turns a free offer into a paid one. Agree any postage separately; do not disguise an item's price as delivery or insurance.
R5. Contacts and personal information
Put Telegram, WhatsApp and phone details only in the protected listing field, not in the title, description or photos. Use your own contacts; do not publish somebody else's details. Do not include an exact home address: use the city and area offered in the form.
A signed-in user may request contacts using the button, within limits. Every repeat request also uses the limit. You then communicate through the chosen external channel. Do not collect contacts automatically, resell them or use them for bulk messages. Safety guidance appears beside the contacts.
R6. Review, restrictions and appeals
A listing is published after readiness checks and enters post-moderation; appearing in the feed is not SARAFAN's endorsement of the item. The usual progression is hiding with a public reason and an opportunity to correct; blocking the listing; then restricting publication in the market. A serious breach may require immediate blocking. Do not evade a block by editing or copying a listing. A moderator can reverse hiding while preserving the author’s chosen state and the original expiry. Only a moderator can unblock the original item; reversing a block returns it paused.
A publication restriction prevents creating, publishing and renewing listings. You can still close or delete your item, read the decision and export your data. The author sees the public reason.
Report an item using its report button. Authors can report a suspicious contact from their own listing in the cabinet. You can appeal a listing block or publication restriction in the cabinet when that option is available for the decision. You can also write to the legal contact shown in SARAFAN's current Terms, including the item link or identifier, the decision and your reasons.
R7. A private transaction
SARAFAN displays listings and helps you obtain contacts. We are not the seller, buyer or a party to your transaction; we do not take payment for the item, arrange delivery or provide buyer protection or a guaranteed outcome. Participants agree payment, inspection and handover themselves. Sold or Given away is the author's statement, not SARAFAN's confirmation of a transaction. These rules do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
These rules do not exclude SARAFAN’s own duties as an operator. Directory profile promotion has separate terms and does not make us a party to the item transaction. Marketplace-item promotion cannot be purchased on the site.
