About

Since the Homes for Ukraine programme began, thousands of Ukrainian families have started a new life in the UK. Many have found work, settled their children into school and are now asking whether they can buy a home of their own.

For many participants, the answer is yes. Some British lenders will consider applications from people living in the country through Homes for Ukraine. Not having British citizenship does not in itself mean a refusal: verified income, credit history, deposit size and affordability all matter.

Some lenders have additional requirements concerning length of residence or employment type, so it is important to assess the options before beginning a property search. The BTJ Mortgages team supports clients throughout the transaction.

This information is general and is not financial advice. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
